In search of the limerick
A novice chanteuse from Lugano
Was called on to sing in Milano
Selection of voice
Was a matter of choice
And she bravely went for soprano
Alas her tone was not true
And it caused a cry and a hue
The audience thought
That the girl was distraught
Such was her hullabaloo
This was the plight of the Diva
And she immediately feigned a fever
She was carried away
And was heard to say
She was worried they wouldn’t believe ‘er
So the curtain came down on the show
And the time came to pack up and go
The moral of course
Is don’t try to force
A voice that simply won’t go.
